LivingSocial which is a daily deals site, was the latest victim of a cyberattack, and that around 50 million user accounts had been affected by the breach.

When users attempted to log on they were greeted with a message from the company requiring them to reset their password.

The company released a statement to employees that read: "We recently experienced a cyberattack on our computer systems that resulted in unauthorized access to some customer data from our servers," the company told employees. "We are actively working with law enforcement to investigate this issue."

The breach had allowed the hackers to gain access to email addresses, dates of birth, user names, and also encrypted passwords. Social indicated that the databases that store merchant credit card and banking information were not compromised.

A spokesman for the company told CNNMoney that all LivingSocial users had some data stored on the hacked server, except for customers in Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. Those countries use TicketMonster and Ensogo, which are on different systems.
