It was designed to rapidly scan large networks, although it works fine against single hosts. TS есть ещё такая команда nmblookup <host_name> это что бы не гадать какой IP адрес пренадлежит компьютеру "Коля".
Среди бесплатных - Nessus (правда там уклон все же в сторону локальных проверок), nmap. Среди коммерческих - MaxPatrol. Так же советую ознакомиться с обзором.
